'I am a true believer in that whatever you put into the world you will get back in return.'

I have always been a pretty positive person, someone who would always look on the bright side of life or for the silver lining at the end of a tough time. I've always been one to give advice to friends, family and even work colleagues to, hopefully, plant a positive feeling in them that things will get better as I'm a true believer that if it isn't better yet then it's not the end of the road.

I've always gone about my life this way and never really thought about it, until someone actually called me a negative person in a heated argument. I was completely taken back by what they had said, by what they had called me, because I know that even in a heated discussion I was not being negative. Still to this day I have no idea why they called me negative, I think it may have been a spare of the moment thing, maybe something they were feeling about themselves, and seeing as it was said via social media I never bothered to ask why they had said that. I'll admit for a few days, or even weeks after, it actually made me question myself, funny how a comment so small can make you question your whole being. Luckily a true friend made me see sense and it then made me think about who I am as a person and how not everyone has a positive outlook on life, which is a real shame.

I am a true believer in that whatever you put into the world you will get back in return. If you give off positive vibes, smile at strangers and think positively then good things will come your way. However, if you are on the other end of the spectrum, thinking negatively, i.e. 'nothing good ever comes my way', 'something bad is bound to happen to me' etc then it is bound to go wrong as you are giving off that negative energy.

This may all sound very hippy to some of you, and that's absolutely fine, but if you are a person who often finds themselves thinking negatively then give this a go and I promise you that in less than a month you will feel better for it!

I guess I just wanted to put this here as I know there are some people that could do with this little pep talk, whether they realise it or not, and I hope that they read this and decide to make a change.

Myself and my friend were recently talking about this topic whilst talking about life in general and how it's treating us, and it led me back to what that person once said to me, someone who had known me for a long time and possibly knew that a comment like that would hurt me. Never let anyone else define or question who you are, you know who you are as a person and the best thing you can be is yourself. Never change yourself to try and fit in with the 'cool kids', never put on a persona so that people like you, at the end of the day they'd like you a whole lot more if you were just yourself, because then at least they know you are being genuine and true.

Being happy and positive doesn't come over night, but slowly and surely it can completely turn your life around, if you want it to.
