'Take a moment
As this time of year comes around, I can't help but feel ready for the new year. I kind of hate it when people say 'new year, new me' because, without sounding like a negative nelly, going from December 31st to January 1st isn't going to change you over night, especially if you had one too many to drink the night before! No, the kind of 'ready' I'm talking about is coming to a point where you look back on the past year and forgive all the things that have happened that you weren't able to let go of at the time, laugh at the silly mistakes you made that definitely were not funny at the time, and just breathe. Almost like a sigh of relief and the knowledge that hey, you got through this year, and no matter how tough it was at the time, you made it.
Coming to the end of the year is usually the best time for reflection as we've become so used to a new year truly meaning a fresh start. It doesn't have to be of course, that's just how most of us see it these days, a second chance. A second chance to really get that bikini body in time for summer, or a second chance to really make a go of your savings this year and not splurge on yourself too much - the list could go on!
I am ready to leave 2016 where it is and look back on this year with fond memories and life lessons learned, and I am so ready to jump into 2017! This next year will not be a 'new year, new me' moment, but a new year to really pay attention to myself and figuring out what I want in my life, career-wise.
