A reflection on 2016

'There are always the positives
to look back on'

Now I know we can all agree when I say 2016 has been a funny old year, a bit of a rollercoaster if you like, but there are always the positives to look back on and to remind yourself of how far you've come since the previous year.

One of the best things 2016 had to offer me was planning our wedding. Myself and Jack got engaged on 26th June 2015 but we didn't actually start planning much of the wedding until January this year. So far we've booked all of the main aspects like the venue, caterers, band, florist etc, and even bought some of the decorations for our special day. It's so lovely when everything starts to come together and fall in place, and it's so exciting to think that this time next year I will be married (!!!).

This year, for the first time, I actually decided I didn't know what I wanted to do career-wise anymore, and realised that it's okay to feel this way. I'll explain more in a separate post, but until now I've always been so sure of what I wanted to do, but now I'm not so sure. I've decided that next year will be a year of trial and error for my career, and hopefully in a years time I'll just know again, but we'll see.

Another big step this year was moving out of my home town, and although it's only 40 minutes or-so away, it was still a big deal. Moving away has actually turned out to be one of the best things me and Jack have done. We absolutely love where we live and are hoping to stick around and buy a house here one day. Sometimes taking a leap into the unknown is all you need to find yourself.

But I must say, the best part about 2016 has been the people around me, keeping me sane, smiling, and happy! Throughout the rough parts of the year these people kept me smiling and laughing, so I thank them for still making this year a good one!

What happy memories can you look back on from 2016? I hope you all have an awesome New Years Eve tonight! Stay safe, and be happy :)
