Heat-free curls made easy!
So I'm sure we've all heard of the Aurora Band by now, right? (If you haven't, where have you been?!). The Aurora Band was on Dragon's Den in 2014 and claims to be a girls best friend when wanting to create great curls without the heat. No one wants to damage their hair using heat tools trying to produce the perfect curly locks so you'd be silly not to try out this nifty device.
I was interested in purchasing one as I'd recently bought a curling tong that was no good for my hair. The curls would last a matter of minutes, but then again it did only cost £20 so what would you expect?! I decided to do some research to find out whether buying the Aurora band would be worth my money, when I came across something similar on Pinterest.
The caption on Pinterest was to basically tie a rolled up t-shirt around your head and weave your hair around it in the same way you would with the Aurora Band. Now to me, the t-shirt seemed as though it would be slightly too big and not create the look I wanted, but I was certain that I wanted to give this a go (hey, if it's free who's complaining?). I opted for a scarf instead of a t-shirt and waited until my hair was almost dry to follow the steps online. I then slept with the scarf in overnight ready for the great reveal in the morning.
Come morning I was excited and almost nervous to find out if this had worked and to my surprise, as I unfolded the first section of hair from the scarf, it was curly! I was instantly giddy at the thought that I would finally be able to create luscious, curly locks without damaging my hair! Who'd have thought that wrapping your hair around a scarf would give such great curls!
Since then I have not looked back and often follow this process after washing my hair. The trick is to wait until your hair is almost dry as if you do it whilst your hair is still wet it may not dry in time, resulting in a frizzy mess! As you can see in the images it gives really great curls that last all day, even without hair spray, and the best part is that no heat is necessary!
I would highly recommend anyone trying this trick, no matter what type of hair you have (mine is long and thick, for those wondering). I can't imagine it wouldn't work on anyones hair, but don't quote me on that as I have only done this on myself. If it doesn't work for you then at least you haven't wasted any money in the process. I did a video of this as more of a tutorial so follow this link to check it out, and don't forget to thumbs up and subscribe for more. Oh, and let me know if it works for you!
