Happy Thoughts

I feel like I may have started this year on slightly the wrong foot. Not because I have done anything stupid or embarrassed myself in any way, but purely for my outlook on my life most of the time recently. This may sound all very negative and depressing and may turn out to be a boring, ‘stop-talking-Kirsti’ kind of post, but I can assure you it isn’t.

With life changing a lot for me lately and having to save, save, save those pennies (!!) things can get a bit mundane and start to get to me and I end up getting myself stressed out, worked up and quite upset. You see, me and my boyfriend are hoping to move out of my Dad’s as soon as possible and start our own life together, (in Brighton, here’s hoping!!) however me and Jack both have things we want to do first which cost a lot of money and with me not earning enough money and Jack being a tattoo apprentice we can’t seem to see the light at the end of the tunnel. That being said we always try to keep a positive outlook on life and make the most of spending time together, because despite living together we barely see each other due to our busy working lifestyles. I work two night shifts a week and the other three working days I am up at 4:30am each day (tiring is the biggest understatement!), and Jack currently has 2 jobs, so as soon as he finishes one he is off to do the other until quite late at night.

I feel like I am constantly thinking about the future and what I want to happen and getting down because I’m doing everything I can to help with our situation but still feeling stuck, rather than just enjoying the here and now. I am so incredibly lucky to have a family who supports me with all of my decisions and the dearest friends who keep me sane, positive and laughing each day. And not to mention an amazing boyfriend who loves me dearly and would do anything to see me happy, and the same for me to him. Therefore I am taking a pledge today to enjoy each day as it comes, especially the little things in life. Obviously future goals will still be in mind and ones I will continue to strive towards, but I am a strong believer of fait and my outlook on life generally is ‘if it’s meant to be, it will be’. So I may move out this year, I may not. I may get a new job this year, I may not. I will always push myself to get to where I want to be, but if it doesn’t happen as soon as I would like it to I need to remember that it wasn’t meant to be and something better will come along.

Does anyone else seem to get themselves stressed out easily about life, money careers etc? I’m sure I’m not the only one, and this is just a little post to say keep positive, keep working towards those goals but also try not to get too stressed out with yourself. You shine brighter when you’re happy :)

Wardrobe clear out!

Evening loves,

Tonight is just a little post to say that I have cleared out my wardrobe (well, I still have a few more things to sort through, oops!) and I was going to give it to charity straight away (hence the charity bag! And may I add it is definitely fit to burst!) but I wanted to ask you guys if you would like a look at what I am selling first? Quite a few items I am selling have barely been worn/used and I thought I would see if you guys would like a first look in before I get rid of it all? I could sell it all on Ebay but to be honest I don't want it hanging around in the house, I just don't have the room! And with plans to clear out pretty much...my life there are going to be a lot of things that I need to chuck out and others I need to box up etc. I have taken a few images from my lookbook page to show you just a few of the items I am selling so that you can get a gist of it all.

Mustard floral playsuit

Denim dress

Pink skirt

Tan skirt

Houndstooth skater skirt & camo jacket

Let me know if you would like me to do a blog sale or anything, or if I should just bite the bullet and give it towards a good cause :)

Thank you, speak to you soon loves,

122. If somebody doesn't believe in you, how can you believe in them, darling?

Bag: New Look  //  Coat: New Look  //  Top: Zara  //  Skirt: DIY  //  Boots: New Look

Hey sweets,

At the weekend I caved and bought this amazing pink coat from New Look which had recently come into my local store. Obviously pink coats have taken fashion by storm over the past few months and I couldn't resist joining in the fun and purchasing this adorable version at a fraction of the price! New Look's take on the oh-so-famous pink coat is limited, and you can see why. It has the soft, furry material on the outside with large, over sized pockets and two sweet little poppers to fasten. It is so warm and cosy to wear and extremely comfortable. It's true to say I feel a little 'legally blonde' whilst wearing this coat, and I love it!

Knowing that I would be wearing my coat out today my girly side took over choosing this pretty floral top from Zara and matching it with my handmade skirt (a staple piece in my wardrobe, any day!). My red plaited belt, handed down from my Mum, wasn't to go a miss in this outfit as it coordinated perfectly. And lastly black tights and black wedge boots to finish on this windy and bloomin' freezing day!

Oh, and I mustn't forget to mention my new bag too! As I was paying for this coat (and a floral blouse may have...ahem...slipped through the checkout too...) I noticed this bag behind the tills and couldn't help but ask to have a closer look. I noted that I hadn't seen it whilst browsing and it turned out it had been returned, not faulty but not wanted. So, I may have ended up buying this too as I don't have any small bags to carry around anymore as I have had a clear out (horray! More on that tomorrow!).

So, this was my outfit today. All that to go for a Wagamamas with the boy and his brother, and Halfords to get my headlight swapped. You can't blame a girl for wanting to dress pretty in pink every now and then, can you? ;)

121. Set the world on fire, burn brighter than the sun

Hat: New Look  //  Jumper: Topshop  //  Blouse: New Look  //  Brooch: Vintage  //  Shorts: DIY  //  Boots: New Look

Hello my loves,

Today was a very odd day, whether wise. One minute it was pouring with rain, then it was sunny and the next this you know it's gale force winds! Anyway I managed to find a spare sunny moment to rush out and take some outfit photos (it wasn't long until it starting spitting again!). I bought this jumper in the Topshop sale as you may have seen in my YouTube video. I wasn't completely sure of it but took a chance anyway and it turns out I got a lot of compliments on it today, that and my work colleague telling me I looked like a pinata...haha! I think with a jumper like this you have to keep the rest of the outfit very minimal and neutral which is what I opted for. I love the fact that this jumper is so unique and colourful, it puts me in a good mood :) New favourite alert!

So, today I slept in until 11:30 (a rare, but all the same lovely lie in!) after doing a night shift until 4am and finally getting to sleep at 5am! I managed to pull myself together, take today's outfit photos, and pop into town to do a little shopping. I picked up a few things for myself, including a pretty little pink coat (haul soon, anyone?), and then I ended up buying a few more Christmas presents for my friends as I couldn't resist! And yes, I did say Christmas presents...me and my best ones are terrible at finding a spare moment when we are all free, especially around the Christmas period, so we agreed to postpone Christmas until tomorrow, when we'll also celebrate Amy's birthday! All very exciting and it'll also be great to have a massive catch up full of smiles and laughter :)

120. Sweetheart's Wish Wellington Boots

Coat: Charity Shop  //  Everything else: New Look

Hello beauts,

This is actually an outfit from 2013, a couple of weeks back, which I didn't have time to post so I thought I would get it posted early on in January. So not quite my first 'ootd' of 2014 but an outfit all the same.

As you may have seen in my latest YouTube video, I bought these boots with a gift voucher my Regional Manager kindly gave me for working hard in store. I was waiting for something special to come into store rather than buying a few things which I didn't really want. These Limited Edition boots, which also come in black, arrived in our store just before Christmas and I instantly loved them. I was torn between the black and red/burgundy pair but seeing as I have around three pairs of black boots choosing the red was a must! I was worried they wouldn't go with much but I was quite surprised when I got them home and paired them up with a few outfits. I also think they're a great statement piece in my wardrobe. As you can see this outfit is mainly based around the boots, but I like that seeing as they stand out so much. I do feel a bit like William from William's Wish Wellingtons wearing these, haha!

I hope you're all having an amazing 2014 so far! I'm off for a late lunch now, so hungry! Have a good day!

Speak to you soon darlings,

Hello January,

Hello my loves,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope you all had an amazing New Years Eve and celebrated with your loved ones. I had a quiet night in with my boyfriend this year, different from the norm. We decided to stay in as we haven't seen much of each other lately and we've both been working non stop, not to mention me being poorly. Jack cooked us a three course meal and it was all a complete surprise, I wasn't allowed in the kitchen, let alone help him so it was all rather mysterious. It was absolutely delicious, and afterwards we cuddled up on the sofa with a blanket on our laps, and drinks in our hands, watching a film waiting for the count down to begin.

Does anyone else get excited about starting a fresh new diary? Sometimes I think it's the best part about starting a new year (as odd as that may sound, I do love my stationary ha!) I picked up this pretty floral and bird print diary just before the new year. I love picking out a diary for the new year and I always choose a large, A5 size where each page is dedicated to one day. I find this easier when making plans, writing down when you're working and also writing in deadlines for certain things (they were especially handy when I was at uni!).

Last year I saw a lot of people creating memory jars, a place to write down great memories from that time of the year, store them in the jar and look back on all of them when December 31st arrived. I didn't do this as I still had my last few months of university left which meant a lot of stress and tiring days. I knew if I created one I would forget about it and not use it as university was constantly on my mind. However, this year I feel it is my time to shine. My time to show what I am really about, what I'm passionate about and achieve goals I have always wanted to achieve.

I never say 'this is my year' or 'this year will be so much better than last year', but I really do feel like that this time around. 2013, as I said, was a very tiring and stressful year, don't get me wrong I had some great moments like graduating and getting my collection onto the British Vogue website and WGSN etc, but I feel like I could have done more, and that is what 2014 is all about for me. Therefore, every great moment I have I will write down on a piece of paper and pop it into the jar. Of course I couldn't resist decorating the jar ;)

This year I have also created a bucket list. If you're not too sure what a bucket list is, it's basically a list of things you would like to achieve throughout the year and you can tick them off as you go. I think it's a great idea to keep everything fresh in your mind and make plans to do the things you want to do otherwise, if you're like me, you'll end up forgetting and before you know it it's too late! So fingers crossed I can start ticking these things off very soon! This is also a great way to look back on your year when we reach December 31st and remind yourself of everything you were able to tick off during the year.

I'm thinking of doing a post 6 months down the line and seeing how full my jar is and how many things I have been able to tick off of my list. Have you created a bucket list or a memory jar for 2014? I'd love to know!

I also have a few New Years resolutions which I am hoping to stick to this year (don't we say that every year?) Here are a few of mine...
1. Read more! Whether it be fashion magazines, novels or career books I need to read more and not spend so much of my time on the internet.
2. Go on lots of adventures with Jack & friends, not just abroad but around England too. Embrace your country!
3. Get rid of old clothes/bags/shoes. If you haven't worn it in 6 months or more, get rid!
4. Interact more with fellow bloggers. (I seem to have taken a step back lately and I really want to chat to fellow bloggers who share the same interests as me)
5. Be happy! Do not let little things stress you out or get you down. You only have one life, do not anyone or anything get you down :)

So there we have it! My plans for 2014 and some resolutions thrown in too! Do you have anything you want to achieve this year? Or even any new years resolutions you want to stick to? I would really love to know :)

I hope this year is full of fun, laughter and excitement for you all. Make this year the best you can possibly make it!
