4 Ways to Style a Jumpsuit

Hello my loves,

So, as I explained in yesterday's post, I took the photos for this post on Friday and then ended up falling asleep afterwards and when I went to edit them I really wasn't happy with how they turned out. It was a bit gloomy and late in the day when I took them and I felt I hadn't styled the outfits well enough. So I decided I would do a re-shoot and when I saw the sun shinning this morning I knew it was now or never before the storm comes! (Apparently we're expecting a storm here in the South :/)

I really hope you like how I styled them. I had so much fun re-shooting these outfits as I took a lot more time finding the right necklace or belt etc to go with the outfit so I'm really happy with how they have turned out, and so glad I didn't post my first try!!

1) The jumpsuit on it's own:

First of all I shot the jumpsuit on it's own and styled it for a night out or an evening meal. I thought a statement necklace would look really nice, especially my dark silver necklace with pastel gems to compliment the navy jumpsuit, shown in my latest You Tube video. I then went for a silver sequin belt, a navy clutch and my H&M lace up heels to finish, and not to forget some deep pink lippy!

2) Layering the jumpsuit with a jumper:

This look is slightly more casual and to show that you don't necessarily have to have the top half of the jumpsuit showing. Finding the right jumper to layer over the top of the jumpsuit can make for a great casual and comfortable outfit, especially in the winter months. However, it's a bit of a problem when you need to use the ladies room, although I guess jumpsuits are in general (I'm sure we've all made the mistake of wearing a playsuit or jumpsuit on a night out and having to strip off just to use the loo!). For shoes I went for my brown platforms which I bought from Primark a few years ago because they are super comfy and easy to walk in and add a little height!

3) Layering with a blouse underneath:

I really love this look and can see myself sporting this a lot! Laying a jumpsuit by wearing a blouse underneath is great during this season to add another layer in the colder months and also changes up the jumpsuit and the whole look of it. Any blouse to compliment this gorgeous silky, navy material will look great, which means you can get lots of use from your jumpsuit with all sorts of blouses underneath and create lots of different outfits! A firm favourite for me and with my favourite hat it's the perfect match.

4) A more casual feel with a simple tee:

Lastly I styled the jumpsuit with a simple white t-shirt underneath for a much more casual look, and despite the jumpsuit being silky it really tones it down and makes for a great everyday outfit. No shoes would look better than a pair of white trainers to match, and I actually wore this to work on Friday and was super comfortable! I added my chunky gold chain necklace for a little detail and a simple black waist belt to finish.

So those are my 4 ways to style a jumpsuit! Which one is your favourite? I'd really love to see which one comes out on top :) If you have any other ways of styling a jumpsuit I would love to hear and try them out! If you would like to purchase this jumpsuit you can find it on the New Look website here and they also do it in different colours too! And if you choose the option 'Click and Collect' you can order it to your store and they won't charge you for delivery!

Pinspiration

Hey lovelies,

Did you see what I did with the title there? ;) Haha! I love a good browse through Pinterest, it's such an inspirational website to collect images, if you haven't been on it I highly recommend you do! It's addictive! So I thought I would share with you some inspiring images I have pinned recently and if you want to see more you can find my profile here.

Also I wanted to add that I did promise in my You Tube video from Tuesday that I would be posting a 'Ways to wear a jumpsuit' yesterday, however I took the photos, then fell asleep for a while (oops!), and then realised I wasn't entirely happy with the images so I will be re-taking them and posting about that sometime this week :)

013. These tartan streets

Scarf: New Look (Old)  //  Jumper & Bag: Zara  //  Shorts: Greece  //  Boots: New Look

Hello my loves,

I have always been so, so envious of people who are able to take 'action shots' when photographing their outfits. By that I mean people who can just take photographs on the street through out their day-to-day life. I love the different locations as I just think it changes it up a bit and adds a but of interest to the photo rather than a basic background. Don't get me wrong, I love my 'lookbook wall' but I think I will try to take my photos in different locations every now and then. I have tried it in the past and they are never usually as successful as my basic brick wall photos, but I guess practice makes perfect, right?

Anyway, on to the outfit. I wanted something basic and comfortable as it was my day off work yesterday when I took these images and I was also filming a You Tube video (yesterday's post). I absolutely love this quilted jumper from Zara, it is so warm and comfy, despite having cropped sleeves and being cropped in length, so I was pretty happy in just this and my beloved tartan scarf to keep me warm. To run with the theme I decided to wear my red shorts which I bought from the sweetest little shop in Greece a couple of years ago. They go with most things and are great to just chuck on when you're feeling lazy or half-hearted. I finished off with my chelsea boots for a little height and my 'Office City Bag' from Zara.

What do you think? Do you prefer seeing different locations or would you rather the one background? I'd love to know your thoughts :)

New Look Shopping Haul!

Hello my loves,

It's a very late post today due to the late uploading of my You Tube video, but better late then never, ey?! I have been doing a little (or rather more, a lot) of shopping over the past month at New Look as working there is just too temping! Plus you get to see all of the latest stuff coming in and get first dibs ;)

So, I have done a bit of shopping and thought I would show you what I have bought over the past few shopping trips. Above is just a snippet of what I have purchased but you can watch the video below to see all of my buys. Let me know what you think or if you would like me to style anything particular in a blog post :)

Just keep sewing, sewing, sewing.

Hello lovelies,

I have been delving into my fabric boxes and digging out lots of lovely floral and tartan fabrics (to name a few!) which I have sparingly kept ready to use for something special, but I thought now would be a good time to make use of them, and my sewing skills. I have wanted to create my own brand and business for many, many years - as long as I can remember! I have always tried on Facebook, Ebay and Etsy to sell the clothes that I make as I was never able to afford to make a professional website. However, now that I have graduated and am working full-time, it seems like the perfect time to get myself and my work out there and show you lovely lot what my passion is :)

It is still very much a work in progress. I have lots of plans but still lots of research and technicalities to address aswell, so we shall see how it all goes. I don't want to give too much away as I want it to be a surprise, but more importantly I don't want to jinx anything, so for now I will keep things very under wraps but will regularly post my progress on here of little snippets of what I have been up to :)

I have also been doing some client work which has been really interesting and a great experience, and not to mention great for the CV! It gets my name out there atleast and gets me a little extra cash too ;) Below is a little sneak peek as to what I have been doing. It is for a new up and coming clothing brand and I expect I will blog about them once they go live :)

Stay tuned for lots more sewing posts involving lots of pretty fabrics!!

012. I'm not afraid no more.

Hat: New Look  //  Coat: Charity Shop  //  Blouse: New Look (Old)  //  Scarf: New Look (Old)  //  Skirt: Urban Outfitters  //  Boots: New Look

Evening beauts!

How are you all? I wasn't planning on publishing two posts today but I threw this outfit together this morning as I was off out for lunch with my friend, Charlotte (Bestie Westie as she will now be called :P) and really liked it, it's very autumnal which is very fitting for today's weather of...rain! Fortunately for me the rain stopped with just enough time for me to take these photos, which is a relief as I just don't have enough wall space in the house to shoot inside (however many times I try, it will never look good).

It feels like forever since I wore a blouse tucked into a skirt, an outfit which I used to wear all the time. I have found my style has changed over the past year or so, so it was really nice to wear this outfit today and it took me back to my old style. I realised today that I still really like this look so I guess blouses and skirts are back on the cards for me this winter! I just find that they are great for layering jumpers and coats etc to keep warm in the colder months. A hat, was of course, necessary today with the horrible rain we had to endure and this one is my all time favourite this season. I love a good bowler hat, don't get me wrong, but I find this hat stays on my head a lot better, especially when it is windy outside, there's half the chance it will fly off of my head and lets face it who wants to be seen looking like a looney running down the road after their hat?! I also wanted to mention this coat which I have pretty much worn every day so far this season and I have had so many compliments on it too! It's really lovely to know that you are probably the only person in town wearing the coat because you picked it up in a charity shop for next to nothing!

Anyway, I hope you like today's outfit, please let me know what you think below :)

The girl behind Silent Sweetheart.

Hello my loves,

So following on from yesterday's post I thought I would do a bit of a re-introduction post for those of you who may not know that much about me and may be new followers. I have also seen a few bloggers do this on Instagram in the past and I just thought it would be a good idea.

My name is, Kirsti, as you can tell from the signature in yesterday's post. I am a 22 years old and graduated from Winchester School of Art earlier this year leaving with a BA(Hons) in Fashion & Textile Design. My final collection actually got featured on Vogue, WGSN and Glamour to name a few along with some of my class mates (extremely proud moment!). I have loved sewing and fashion in general since I was very little as my Mum used to sew a lot and I aspired to be like her and have such a skill. From the get-go sewing inspired me and got me excited and curious about all of the possible things I could make! I used to make myself handbags all of the time, usually denim with a bit of cardboard in the bottom and sides for support. It's so funny to look back on that now and see how far I have come (bearing in mind I was extremely young!) and to notice that I still have the same passion for sewing now then back then, probably even more so! For me, it is something I want to do for the rest of my life, and not just for a hobby, for my career.

This leads me to my future plans and my hopes and dreams of one day owning and running my own shop full of pretty dresses, playsuits, trousers, tops and lots, lots more! It has been a dream of mine since I can remember (which was an extremely long time ago!). The first step for me is tackling it online and getting my brand well-known and earning enough money to hopefully one day own my own little shop somewhere. Right now I finally feel like I am ready to give it a real go. I have made clothes for myself, friends and family for years now which has been a great way to learn on top of university, but I finally feel ready to show off my skills, designs and ideas and, fingers crossed, it will be a success!

Back to my personal life, I still live at home at the moment but now my boyfriend lives with me and has been here for about 6 months now. It's odd because it feels like he has always been here because he gets on so well with my family and we are stronger than ever before (after nearly 6 years of being together! Horray!). We had plans to move out early next year and start to settle down and get into the jobs we really want to be in, however things have slightly changed and we have now decided to wait until around August time to move out so that we can save enough money in time, as it will be a pretty big move and a huge change for us! It's all very exciting and I cannot wait to move out, but having said that things are fine how they are right now and we know it's for the best financially if we wait :)

I currently work in New Look and have done for many years part-time as a Sales Advisor getting by through college and university, however having recently graduated and in desperate need of money before I can work in London (something else I really want to do/experience!) I now work full-time as an Accessory and Lingerie Specialist which means I run the department and get to do all of the displays and floor layouts etc. Having this promotion has moved me up the ladder and I now have more important responsibilities like working with figures on our department, which is all great for my CV. Even though it gets me down sometimes as I feel sort of trapped, I know it's only temporary and everyone's got to start somewhere, right? And this is where I'm starting :)

So anyway, this is me, this is who I am and that is my plan for my future. Some may think this is a bit personal and in depth but, I don't know, I just felt like sharing my life with you guys seeing as this isn't just a fashion blog it is also a lifestyle blog and we should always blog about whatever we want and are passionate about, shouldn't we? :)

I promise my posts won't always be this wordy and rambly! Tomorrow's post is a lot more image orientated so come back if you'd like to see a little more colour on here :)

Speak to you soon,

Saturday, 19 October 2013

Oh, hey there,

Hello my lovelies,

In some ways I sort of can't believe it has only been just over 2 weeks since I last blogged because it feels like a life time! I have taken a little break away from my blog as I sort of felt like I was losing/had lost my 'blogging mojo' as Charlene from 'Strut la Mode' so perfectly put it. I just felt like my posts weren't flowing as well as they previously have done, and from past experience of this happening before (and a few other bloggers mentioning it) it's always best to have a little break to re-think why you are writing your blog and who for and most of all finding your passion for it again.

So I have had my little time away from my blog and it gave me a chance to miss it which was a really great feeling seeing as I had sort of, dare I say it, lost interest at the beginning of the month. I also realised why I love doing it so much so I am looking forward to blogging again and sharing lots of things that are going on in my life!

As I only started this new blog up around 4 months ago it has been hard to make it as successful as my previous blog, having said that it took me a long, long time to get where I did with my first blog and I know nothing comes overnight. I'm not saying I regret starting a fresh at all, I knew it was the right thing to do for myself, starting a new chapter in my life and all, but it is hard to 'get out there' sometimes and show the world your very own part of the internet. But what I have come to realise is that it is all about promoting yourself and supporting other blogs which you enjoy reading as well and blogging for yourself and if anyone happens to like it and 'follow you' then it is a bonus and a great feeling to know that someone enjoys reading your rambles!

I am not the best blogger in the world, and I envy those who's blogs have become a great success, but looking at their blogs just inspires me even more and strives me to one day become a successful blogger in the bloggersphere. And I know, I know, it is not all about the followers - I am not saying that at all - I just want to show the world what I can do and the exciting plans I have for my life and career in the near future, as I'm going to need a lot of help from you guys! I'll leave on that note and see if anyone can guess what I have planned ;) Those of you who have read this blog or my previous one may know what I am talking about :)

Anyway, expect a lot of content on here from now on. There you have it, a written statement, online, you and the rest of the world (a bit hasty maybe?) are my witness's, there's no going back on that word now! I have recently come across a lot of quotes on Pinterest which have helped to motivate me and I have pinned them all here, but I will leave one quote which is really inspiring me right now.

I uploaded a 'September Favourites' video over on my You Tube channel today! I am getting into my You Tube video's a lot more recently and am loving it! Now to get back into blogging on a regular basis and producing good quality posts! Any tips and advice for a fellow blogger lacking in inspiration? Also, what have been your favourites this month? Any new beauty products or online shops I should be checking out? I'd love some new things to try :)

Anyway, here are a few close ups of my favourites this month!
