011. Dolly Dearest

Rose Hair Band: New Look  //  Broach: Vintage  //  Blouse: New Look  // Dress: New Look  //  Tights: Primark  //  Boots: New Look

Hello beauties,

How are you all? It feels like it has been a little while since I did a blog post, and to be honest I guess I 'lost my mo-jo' for a little while, and that isn't to say I've got it back but I liked my outfit today and thought I would share it with you guys.

I thought I would layer up this dress today by adding a blouse underneath for added detail and interest. I also thought the vintage broach worked quite well too, although I was torn between this and my collar clips so maybe next time they will win! I really love this dress as it's so easy and comfortable and the print is such a statement it makes the outfit all on its own. I decided to add my new red rose hair band and red Kate Moss lipstick for a hint of colour, and finished off with tights and Chelsea boots seeing as the colder months are coming, fast!

What do you think? Are you a fan of layering?

Could it be? PVC...

Evening lovelies,

I was looking through the Topshop Zine last week whilst doing a little research for work and came across an image of Cara Delevingne in a PVC skirt and actually really loved the look. It got me doing a little more research and I found more ways to style a PVC skirt without it looking slutty or cheap. I can't say it will be one of my 'go to' looks this season as I am a little weary of how people will perceive me, but I thought I would make my own version as I had some black PVC material left over from a uni project, and maybe see what I could pair it with.

What do you think of the PVC look? Are you a fan or is this a definite no, no? Let me know if you would like to see me attempt to style this skirt and also let me know if you'd like me to show you a tutorial on how to make this skirt :)

Have a good evening!

010. Sunday Blues

Collar Clips/Clip-on Earring: Vintage  //  Everything else: New Look

Hey lovelies,

Today has been a pretty gloomy day here in the South, but still pretty warm so I was calling for a nice cosy jumper to wear. I bought this jumper a couple of weeks ago now from the kids section in New Look (generation 915) and it is so thick and cosy, perfect for the winter months ahead. I fancied a pretty comfy day today so I got out my black jeans and new cut-out boots, but also added a sleeveless shirt underneath the jumper and a hat for a bit more style as I met up with my friend, Charlotte, today.

Life has been so, so hectic for me and my friends lately so finding the time to meet and catch up is limited, but I guess I cherish these times more as who knows when we'll see each other again! Sometimes life can get in the way, and I'm sure we've all experienced this, but it's good to remember to make time for your friends, and even yourself just for some down time to relax. The thing I love most about my friends is that we can go weeks or even months without seeing each other, and as soon as we see each other again it's like nothing has changed. We pick up where we left off, we catch up on each others lives, we laugh endlessly and I always feel so lucky and content knowing that I have such a good group of people around me (queue the sick bucket! Ha).

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend! :)

Leading a busy lifestyle

Hello my lovelies,

Since graduating from university earlier this year and stepping out into the 'real world', as it were, things haven't been as plain sailing in the career path as one would hope. We all know how hard it is to get a job in your career field and in the area you would like to work in, nothing comes served up on a plate and you have to be realistic about the steps you must take to get to where you want to be. What I am saying is, you may not always get your dream job from the get go, there's a little ladder that needs to be climbed first and you have to work hard and constant to get there.

I started working at New Look when I was 16, part time, to start earning money whilst I studied at college and university, to be more independent and not be so reliant on my parents. As uni was coming to an end I was hoping to get out of New Look asap as I felt I had learnt all that I could and I was eager to join a new company and experience something new. However, things do not always go to plan and you start to realise how much things cost and how little money you actually have, meaning for me that my dream of working in London was slipping further and further away. I knew I had to get a full time job pronto and luckily for me a 40 hour contract was going at New Look so I jumped at the chance, anything to make my dream a reality. As you know I got the job as Accessory and Lingerie Specialist and am now working full time at New Look. Not what I had hoped for, but it will get me by for now, plus I have a lot more responsibility than before and am constantly learning new things - so great for my CV!

As you can imagine, working 40 hours a week is rather tiring, especially when you start at 6 or 7 in the morning! So it's hard to motivate yourself to do anything but chill when you get home. Things get pushed aside and forgotten about, and for me it makes me feel sluggish and guilty that I am not being productive with blogging and exercise, to name a few. So lately I have been writing down everything I want to blog about or You Tube as soon as it comes to mind, so that I don't forget about it later on, and I then give myself notice as to when I want to publish the post/video. This way I know well in advance when it will be going live and it gives myself time to take the photos or film the video without stressing because I know it won't all be last minute, and therefore it will be much more thought out and well organised too!

I also mentioned in my previous You Tube video (What's in my bag?) that I barely use my diary despite carrying it around with me everywhere, so I have also been making use of that and writing down what post I will be doing on what day, and of course when I will be seeing friends or doctors appointments etc to keep track of everything. It certainly makes life easier and you never double book either! Win, win all round!

I am one of those people who absolutely loves being organised but sometimes lets things slip, as I mentioned before, so for me it's good to be organised on all levels. I am a lover of keeping a diary and writing down everything that needs to be done (I love a good list!), but I also love keeping track of everything on my iPad and one app I have come across to do this is 'Planner Plus'. Planner plus is just another way to keep organised and you can write in certain times that you need to do things etc. I find this really useful as it highlights the area you have something planned, therefore you can work around it and easily see when you are free to do other things.

Today I have spent the majority of the day basically organising my life. Sorting out things that I need for work tomorrow, planning blog posts and other events going on at the moment and it has helped so much already! I think if you have a busy lifestyle it is necessary to be organised and know what you are doing when you are doing it, otherwise you just get lost and may miss out on something important that you had planned. That's not to say you need to post-it note your laptop or bedroom all over to remember things, just keep a diary or use an app on your iPad, tablet or even phone and if you don't think you will remember to use or look at your diary, like I have often done, then set a little notification to remind you that way instead.

Being organised is a lot more stress free than not being organised, especially once you get into the habit, and you'll thank yourself in the future for it as you'll realise you can fit a lot more in one day than you think you can :)

I hope this has helped some of you, or if you have any apps or tips for me or anyone else on keeping organised then leave me a comment, I would love to hear your thoughts.

What's in my bag?

Hey loves,

I quickly filmed a 'What's in my bag?' video yesterday after work on a whim to change up my You Tube a bit. I hope you like it, please let me know what you think and whether you would like to see more of these types of video's. Also if you have any suggestions for more video's then let me know, I would love some more ideas of what to video :)

Thanks!

009. Say you will, say you will save me

Hat:  New Look  //  Necklace:  New Look  //  Top:  DIY/Self Made  //  Disco Pants:  Cameo Rose  //  Chelsea Boots:  New Look

Hello my loves,

How have you all been? I think it's safe to say it's officially Autumn as I wore tights the other day for the first time in ages. It kind of feels depressing, but at the same time I absolutely love Autumn/Winter fashion and wrapping up warm and layering. What about you? Are you a fan of Autumn/Winter fashion?

Another reason I am glad Autumn is here is that I can finally wear this tartan top which I made! As I said in my previous post I am a huge fan of tartan and when I cleared through my fabric boxes a couple of weeks ago I was over-joyed to see I still had this tartan material left over from a uni project and knew I had to make something with it. So, off to the sewing machine I went and this is what I knocked up, what do you think? I had some great feedback on Instagram when I posted it so I'm really tempted to make some more to add to my Etsy page and sell, what do you think? Would you buy one? Or one in a similar tartan print atleast, let me know :) I feel like I've asked a lot of questions in this post already!

Anyway, I am absolutely loving this hat I bought last year from New Look. It's just a great accessory for any outfit, especially when you're having a bad hair day ;) I also haven't worn these disco pants in ages but it felt right to wear them with this top for the punk look, and gold chain necklace to finish off the look.

I also filmed a You Tube video of yet another haul! I promise my next video won't be a haul, I already have one planned for next week :)

Enjoy your weekend!

Latest Trends: Tartan Lovin'

Hello beauties,

I have always been a fan of tartan. I absolutely love the print, no matter what the colour. I'm not quite sure how it started as I haven't always been such a huge fan but in the last year I have just fallen in love with the traditional Scottish print. So, as you can imagine I am over-joyed that tartan is in this season! I already have a scarf and a pencil skirt in the print, and I have also just made myself a top in tartan (post coming soon!), but now I would love a pair of trousers, so I thought I would put together a couple of looks to give myself some inspiration as to what could be worn with tartan trousers.

Results with Lucy

Hello lovelies,

Life has been a little hectic, to say the least, and I have been struggling to decide how to fill you all in. But I thought the only way to do it is to just go for it and take different aspects of my life one post at a time, rather than overwhelming you all in one post.

A week ago I joined Results with Lucy after much deliberation, and waiting patiently for pay day to finally come, I bit the bullet and joined. I am so in awe of Lucy Meck's body since she strutted her stuff in a white bathing suit in this years episode of 'The only way is Marbs'. She looked absolutely phenomenal! She looks toned, fit and healthy and she claims that the exercise has made her feel more positive and even given her more energy, with the right diet too of course, and I want that!

It may sound silly to some, but since I turned 22 I have really noticed a difference within my body and feel as though I have to work a bit harder now, and that is where Results with Lucy comes in. I do not want to loose weight, juts to be clear on that, I simply want to feel toned and hopefully give myself more energy as I have a pretty busy lifestyle. And I have to say, so far so good! I knew Results with Lucy would be good as I done my research and saw such amazing feedback and 'real results' images from people that have joined, but I didn't realise just how good and motivating it would be! Each video is between 5-10 minutes long, but you can do the video's 2-3 times over, and they work you so hard. Each time I do it I come away sweating and to me that's how you know you've had a good work out!

As I said, I started it last Friday and aimed to exercise each day, however I didn't manage to exercise Tuesday to Thursday so yesterday (Friday) I worked myself 4 times as hard to make up for the days I had missed and I felt amazing afterwards! Especially after doing the dance routines ;) And that is the great thing about Results with Lucy, you can work whatever part of your body you like or all at the same time, and if you're feeling you need a bit more of a boost then do the dance routines! They are so much fun!

Results with Lucy is £12 a month to get access to the video's, or £12.99 for the video's and articles. There is also an option to follow Lucy's diet, however that is £30 for 30 days, which was a bit steep for me right now, but I am happy with the video's and articles to help me get into 'working out' for now :)

Workin' 9 'till 5...or, er 7 'till 4...

Sneak peek at what I wore to work today!

Evening loves,

I thought I would do a little 'life update' on part of my life today, my working life. I recently went full time at my job in New Look and got promoted from Fitting Room Specialist to Accessory and Lingerie Specialist. This may not mean much to some people, but basically I am now in charge of the whole of Accessories and Lingerie and believe me, in my store, that is a big responsibility and a big department to run.

I have always wanted to do visual merchandising in New Look since I can remember as I would love to be a stylist in the future, and what better way to start than in your current job? So when I was promoted I was thrilled to hear that I would be in charge of the displays and layout of the department. As well as this I am expected to learn weekly figures, how much money we have taken and whether we have taken a drop since last week, as well as that time last year. So not only am I being creative in my work place (which is heaven for a creative person!), I also get to understand the financial side of the job and grain experience in that aspect too.

I am loving the job so far as I can be as creative as I like (so long as I stay within the rules!!), and the extra pennies won't hurt either! (helloooo September wage packet :P ). However, even though I am loving it so far, I do know that I do not want to stay in retail. My plans are to save, save, save and hopefully end up in London where I can gain more experience from various companies in different areas of fashion and styling, even fashion design as that is what I studied at university. Who knows! All I know is, I am on the right track and slowly but surely I will for fill my career dream!

Below are a few displays I have done in store so far. The images aren't great as I only took them on my phone, but I hope you like what I have done :)

I did a cheeky bit of denim too!

I even dabbled in a bit of footwear ;)

I had so much fun having complete freedom to display this bag wall by myself!

Love my washing line ;)
